Scholarship For Minorities
Government Offers Scholarship for Minorities
A third of African American women are cohabiting with their husbands and sharing the expenses in raising a family in the US. This holds true for other minorities as well. The rest are struggling alone to rear up their child and to pay the bills. It is not uncommon, then, for US minority citizen single moms, to dream of finishing their education but was unable to do so because of financial constraints.
However, single mothers and minority groups can now take advantage of the scholarship for minorities offered by the Obama administration and other private sectors. Scholarships can help single mothers to get a degree and find better income through employment.
Here’s a list of private offering scholarship for minorities.
1.The Sister Thea Bowman Foundation. The main focuses of this support group are African American women who are single and are aiming to get back to college. The budget reaches up to $8,000 annually and requires a completed High School degree for its applicants.
2.The organization named Raise the Nation extends their support to single mothers and women from all cultural background to enroll back to school and finish college.
3.Project Working Mom offers financial assistance to mothers who are single minorities to enroll back in a local school or university so that they can secure a diploma. This organization is in partnership with different educational institutions as well as online colleges. There are 280 scholarships for the program.
The NAACP can be your information booth on where to apply and to what program you can be accommodated.
As of today, the government is currently running a campaign to encourage single moms to get back to school. The campaign extends to cultural minorities as well. This is to ensure that the American public gets the education you deserve.
Check your nearby colleges and universities for programs that offer scholarship for minorities and graduate school grants. Sometimes, the school doesn’t advertise opportunities like these but scholarships are usually available for application. If you think that the funding is not big enough for your and your kids, you can try to work part-time to address your daily needs by enrolling in daytime and working part time by night. Since the scholarships are in place, the money you get from working at late shifts goes to your children’s mouth, bills payment, loans, and others – not to your school bills because it’s already covered by the government or a funding sector.
